Thresher Shark

Thresher sharks are large mackerel sharks of the family Alopiidae found in all temperate and tropical oceans of the world; the family contains three extant species, all within the genus Alopias.

Local Names: Pating, Fox Shark, Foxtail, Thresher, Thrasher, Sickletail, Swingletail, and Swiveltail.

It's mostly seen on the surface but it inhabits waters to 1,800 feet (550 m) in depth. Thresher sharks are observed infrequently jumping out of the water.
